Did you take any food photography courses?
Yes, I did! When I first started out, I watched a lot of YouTube videos and followed tips and tricks from some of my favourite creators. Then, I came across Foodtography School which truly changed my life! If you’re interested, I have a code (simplytina) you can get 15% off on courses, templates and more! There’s even an iFoodtography course where you can learn how to take amazing photos using your smartphone.
Where do you get your props from?
A variety of places! I’m truly always on the lookout. Here are some of my favourite places:
- Homesense
- Indigo
- Spirit Wares
- Etsy
- Homebody
- Club Backdrops (love their backdrops!)
- Woodville Workshop (also love their backdrops!)
- Thrift stores! Great place to find some hidden gems at a great price
Where did you go to school for holistic nutrition?
I went to the Institute of Holistic Nutrition for Applied Holistic Nutrition. They have campuses in Toronto, Mississauga and Vancouver.
What camera and lens do you use?
I’m currently using a Canon EOS Rebel T7i. It came with a lens but I don’t use that one much. I purchased a Canon EF 50mm f1.8 STM lens. It’s super affordable, especially if you are just starting out.
What is holistic nutrition?
When people hear the word “holistic”, there is an assumption that it means woo woo hippy stuff. Yes, “woo woo hippy stuff” has been said to me. Holistic means looking at an individual’s health as a whole. Taking all aspects of it into account – mental, physical, emotional health. Your body is like a puzzle and each piece (mental, physical, emotional) serves a purpose to complete the puzzle. If one of those pieces doesn’t fit properly, the puzzle can’t be complete. Holistic health practitioners look at all of these aspects of your health so that they can provide you with the best tools and resources for your wellness journey. This can look like food, supplement and lifestyle recommendations.
